The timeline orders entries using their numeric world-time values. It can include events, eras, and other entries with dates, such as a character's lifespan.

## Add time information

Open an entry and add a time label in your own words, such as “the winter Mara turned eight.” When you know where it belongs numerically, add a start and, if useful, an end.

A text label preserves your wording. It does not automatically become a numeric date. Use the world's time unit consistently; it defaults to years and can be changed in [world settings](/settings).

## Entries without numeric dates

The timeline identifies relevant entries that are still unplaced. **Place with agent** opens a conversation asking the assistant to work from the existing bible and ask where the timing is ambiguous.

You can use a **before** relationship to express order without inventing an exact date. A relative relationship alone does not necessarily give an entry a numeric position in the timeline view.

## Review timing problems

[Consistency checks](/consistency) can identify loops, conflicting order, a child older than a parent, or participation in an event outside a recorded lifespan. These are prompts to review the dates and relationships, not automatic corrections.
