Write and switch between chapters

Use the manuscript editor, understand automatic saving, and switch between chapters without waiting for a fresh download every time.

Open a book’s Manuscript tab and select a chapter. The editor supports paragraphs, bold, italic, headings, lists, undo, and redo through its toolbar.

Saving

Chapter text saves automatically. Check the status above the editor:

Status What it means
Loading chapter… The chapter is being opened.
Connecting · showing saved copy A local copy is visible while access and synchronization are checked.
Saving… Changes are waiting for the server’s acknowledgment.
All changes saved The connected server has acknowledged the current changes.
Offline — changes will sync on reconnect The connection is unavailable. Locally retained changes will be reconciled when it returns.

A visible local copy is not by itself proof that the server has saved it. Avoid closing the browser while changes are still saving if you can stay connected.

Fast chapter switching

ImagineMate keeps a small working set of recently opened chapters in memory and preloads neighboring chapters. Returning to one can feel immediate. It also remembers the chapter’s cursor and scroll position and stores local chapter data in your browser.

A chapter that has never been downloaded still needs a connection. A very large chapter or a busy device may take longer to render.

Writing together

Chapter text uses collaborative editing. Other editors’ accepted changes synchronize into the document. A viewer can read but cannot edit. See Sharing and roles.

Revision restores

If someone restores a revision, reopen the chapter when prompted. ImagineMate keeps unsent writing from the old revision separately instead of mixing it into the restored version. Use Download recovered writing if shown, before dismissing that copy.
