Use the assistant
Talk through story ideas, choose a model, keep separate conversations, and ask grounded questions about ImagineMate and your fictional world.
The assistant helps you develop the world and maintain its story bible. Open the chat panel on the right. You can hide it while working and return to it later.
Start with ordinary language
Describe an idea, ask a question, or correct a detail. The assistant can search existing entries, read their details, add or update bible information, record glossary terms, and extend the ontology when a suitable type is missing.
Examples:
- “Mara belongs to the Cartographers’ Guild. Record that relationship.”
- “Maybe the lighthouse is abandoned. Keep that as an idea.”
- “What do we know about the war before Mara was born?”
- “How do I restore a chapter in ImagineMate?”
Check tool summaries and the resulting entries. The assistant can make mistakes. You decide which suggestions become canon.
Reference characters, boards, and documents
Type @ in the chat input to find an item in the current world. Suggestions are grouped by type: Characters and other bible entry types, Boards, and Documents. Documents are manuscript chapters, with their book name shown underneath.
Keep typing to filter the list. Use the arrow keys and Enter to select, or click an item. Escape closes the list. You can attach up to ten references per message and remove one with its × button. Editing a selected mention’s name removes its attached reference; select it again to attach the intended item.
Selected references identify exact items, even if names change later. The assistant receives the current saved content and can refresh it during the conversation. Click a mention in your sent message to open the item.
For example, select @Mara and @The first spark, then ask “Does this chapter fit Mara’s established character?” Board references include saved text and shape structure. They do not give the assistant visual understanding of drawings or images. Large items may be excerpted.
Conversations and models
Use the conversation menu to switch threads or start a new conversation. Conversations are separate even though they work with the same world bible. Switching chat conversations leaves the open manuscript or board in place.
Recently visited conversations can show a temporary copy immediately while ImagineMate checks the latest saved history. Wait for that check before sending another message or changing the model. These copies stay in the current tab for up to five minutes, are limited to a small set of conversations, and are cleared when you leave the world or change accounts. Reloading the tab loads history from the server again. If access fails, the temporary copy is removed. Signing out, changing accounts, or waiting for sign-in verification clears temporary chat history and disables the message box until access is established.
Haiku is the default. The menu also offers Opus, Luna, Terra, Sol, and Brain dump · Opus. Brain dump mode is intended for carefully organizing a large, loosely structured idea while preserving uncertainty.
The model choice belongs to the conversation. Choose based on the work you need rather than assuming all models behave identically.
Stop or leave a response
Use Stop to cancel a response. Hiding the panel or closing a tab does not necessarily cancel an agent turn; the conversation can reconnect to work that is still running.
Long conversations may be summarized internally so work can continue. The original stored conversation is retained; a summary is a working aid, not a reason to trust every recalled detail without checking.
An Earlier conversation summarized section in the transcript expands to show that working summary. Restate an important detail if the summary misses it.
Product help and world questions
For questions about ImagineMate, the assistant can search this guide and cite the relevant page. It should explain current behavior and say when the guide does not establish an answer. It should not invent buttons or promise unavailable features.
For questions about your fictional world, it searches that world’s bible. A product-help question should not create a character, fact, or open question in the world.
Current tool limits
The assistant does not automatically read an open chapter, rewrite its manuscript, operate every canvas control, upload files for you, or inspect other worlds. To request feedback, attach the chapter with @ or provide the passage in chat. Opening an item on screen does not share it with the model.
