Words, names, and languages
Keep invented terms and language vocabulary in a searchable glossary, with meanings and links to the world entries they describe.
The glossary stores words, names, phrases, and their meanings. A term can belong to a language or stand on its own as a title, slang expression, or world-specific phrase.
Add a term
Open Glossary and use the add-term form. Enter the term and its meaning. Where useful, add pronunciation, part of speech, notes, a language, or a link to a bible entry.
For example, “tide-singer” can be a term meaning a navigator who interprets the sea. If it names a particular group or concept, link the term to that entry rather than duplicating its entire description.
Languages are entries
A language is also a bible entry of type language. Link speakers with the speaks relationship. The glossary’s language views collect vocabulary and show the speakers recorded in the bible.
A language entry describes the language; a glossary term defines an individual word or phrase in it.
Use chat
You can ask the assistant to record a word, explain an existing term, or connect vocabulary to the appropriate language. Its search includes glossary meanings as well as entry names.
The glossary is a reference tool. It does not automatically translate your manuscript or generate a complete language grammar.
