Connect entries with relationships
Link entries with directed or symmetric relationships and understand how relationship direction affects the story bible.
Relationships describe how two entries are connected: a character belongs to a group, an event happened in a place, or one person is another’s parent.
Add a relationship
Open an entry and use its Relationships section. Choose the relationship and the other entry. Add a note or time information when it clarifies the connection.
Read the wording as a sentence. Mara — member of — Cartographers’ Guild is different from making the guild a member of Mara.
Direction and reverse labels
Most relationships have a direction. A parent relationship can be shown as “parent of” from one side and “child of” from the other. Those are two views of one connection; you do not need to create both.
Some relationships are symmetric, such as a sibling relationship. ImagineMate treats their direction differently from a one-way relationship.
Relationship types
The world starts with common relationship types. If none expresses what you need, use Ontology or ask the assistant to add a suitable type. Prefer reusing an existing type when it already means the same thing.
A relationship connects specific entries. A fact can add context, but text saying “Mara is a guild member” is not a substitute for a structured membership relationship when you want to navigate that connection.
Consistency checks can flag impossible combinations and cycles. Review the finding before changing your world; an unusual connection may be intentional.
